Random Solution Image

You want your own solution to the 26-Queens Puzzle? Just pick one! Every time you load this EPS image, you will get a different one.

This image features:

  • an integrated N-Queens solver hand-coded in PostScript, and
  • the discovery of a random solution each time viewed.

Note that the random solution feature will persist within a document if the image is embedded rather than imported by rendering. As the range of seeds for the pseudo-random number generator is limited to 232 different values while there are more than 254 different solutions, this script is only capable to generate a fraction of the valid solutions for the 26-Queens Puzzle. I would still be suprised if you ran into a duplicate ...
